Christina & Philipp
A picturesque lakeside wedding
In rural Jämtland, a couple celebrated their forest elopement beside a tranquil lake, surrounded by the beauty of nature. Drawing inspiration from the area's hiking trails and wilderness, the wedding had an intimate, rustic feel. A tipi tent served as the perfect backdrop for the celebration, blending seamlessly with the environment. The menu, crafted from local forest ingredients, was a culinary highlight, while personalized decor reflected the couple’s love for nature. This wedding showcased how thoughtful design and a deep connection to the surroundings can create an unforgettable experience for couples seeking something unique.
Location
When they first approached me, Christina and Philipp knew they wanted to get married in the forests of Jämtland. This was a place they had been to before, and had fallen in love with. They wanted their celebration to reflect their love for the Swedish nature, and their passion for the outdoor.
The Wedding Day
Surrounded by tall and slender trees, the couple sang sweetly to each other and exchange heartfelt vows that moved their friends and families to tears. Christina and Philipp had been looking forward to their ceremony to share their love for each other as they have shared their lives with each of them throughout the years.
In fact, as the guests walked down the winding path to take their seats, they were surrounded by polaroids hanging from the trees - which showed the couple’s most memorable moments with each other, and with their guests. Such a personalised touch to make this wedding even more picturesque, and with that magical camp feeling you want to share with others.
After the ceremony, the guests were invited into a tent, where the festivities would continue. A typical tepee tent, the space was rustic and beautifully decorated, just as Christina and Philipp had imagined.
Big tables allowed people to laugh together and share the best stories of the couple, as well as relishing the local food and drinks served.
The wind blowing outside did not stop the festivities, but rather made the whole ceremony feel truly like a celebration of love and the true relationships that sustain us, and warm us inside.
Decor & Styling
Rural Jämtland is a fairytale-like place, and it was no wonder the couple loved it so much. They adored t being immersed in the wilderness, and they wanted their guests to experience the sentiment as well.
They were looking to replicate the feeling of being at a summer camp together, the emotions you feel when meeting each other in a new place, where new possibilities arise and new bonds are formed.
The decisions that were made felt consequential, simply natural.
The birches, so majestic and high, offered just a wide enough space to have the guests sit and gaze at the lake behind the couple. A magnificent view for all. Taking the place of an arch, we created a simple triangular shape that offered as a backdrop to the couple taking their vows.
The trees were incorporated into the ceremony by having tens of polaroids of the couple strung to them, so that guests would quite literally walk the history of Christina and Philipp’s relationship up to the wedding. Polaroid cameras were also strewn around, so that guests could add their own memories to this new step in the couple’s relationship.
Once everyone moved to the tent, it was possible to admire the rustic feeling of the space, and how the warmth of the people filled it up. On dark red napkins tied with a simple ribbon, local dishes were served and appreciated by friends and family alike. The vintage carpets added a unique touch to the tent as well, and were perfect for the couple to have their joyous first dance.
