Nestled in the heart of Dalarna, Sweden, Erika and Ricky's wedding was a breathtaking blend of Swedish traditions, stunning landscapes, and heartfelt personal touches. Their celebration at Åkerblads Hotell & Gästgiveri in Tällberg was the epitome of a classic Swedish wedding, surrounded by picturesque views and a rich cultural atmosphere that gave guests an authentic taste of Sweden.
Stunning ceremony at Rättvik Kyrka
The couple exchanged vows in the historic Rättvik Kyrka, one of Sweden’s most iconic churches, known for its scenic lakeside location and deep-rooted history. As Erika and Ricky stepped out of the church as husband and wife, the renowned Orsa Spelmän, a traditional Swedish folk music group, played them out—a moment that couldn't have been more Swedish! The joyful tunes and stunning Dalarna surroundings set the perfect tone for the rest of the celebration.
Outdoor mingle
Following the ceremony, the guests gathered outdoors for a relaxed mingle, enjoying refreshing drinks and Swedish delicacies while taking in the breathtaking views of Tällberg. The fresh summer air and warm hospitality made it a truly memorable prelude to the evening’s festivities for all their guests who had come in from all over the world.
A meadow-inspired reception at Åkerblads
The reception took place in the grand hall of Åkerblads, beautifully transformed to reflect the couple’s vision of a meadow-like atmosphere. Drapery and wildflowers covered the tables and floors, creating a dreamy, natural ambiance. The traditional Carl Larsson-inspired colour palette in the decor added a timeless charm, while the bride’s bouquet incorporated soft peach hues to complement her personal aesthetic.
Heartfelt speeches and wine pairings
During the dinner, family and friends delivered touching speeches, celebrating Erika and Ricky’s journey together. Every dish was paired with the couple’s favorite wines from around the world, bringing in memories from their travels and adding a deeply personal touch to the evening. It was a night filled with laughter, love, and cherished stories that beautifully honored their relationship.
A cake and guestbook with a skiing twist
In a nod to Ricky’s British roots and the couple’s love for skiing, their wedding cake was a classic British Victoria sponge, decorated with Swedish strawberries and creatively designed to resemble a ski slope. Even their guestbook was personalised with ski boots, and old skis were repurposed as shot-serving trays during dinner—such a fun and memorable detail!
Sunset and golden hour magic in Dalarna
As the evening unfolded, the couple followed our advice to step outside for golden hour, embracing a quiet, intimate moment together amidst the breathtaking Dalarna landscape. The sunset cast a warm, golden glow, making for some of the most stunning wedding photos imaginable.
