A personal wow wedding

When you look at Inez and Axel, you just know they’re going to be together for a very long time. Love drips from every word they exchange, from every glance they share.
They live in Amsterdam, and while Inez is Dutch, Axel has his roots in Sweden. From the very beginning, they had a clear vision of what they wanted their special day to be: as modern as they are, as well as upbeat and filled with familiar faces and big hearts.

The Location

When Sofiero Gård was first proposed to them, there was hesitancy. They were concerned it might not reflect a modern feeling, with it being so rustic and almost too barn-y.
However, we made it our mission to transform this already gorgeous space into a modern one worth of two people like Inez and Axel.

The Wedding Day

Rain, oh rain! The day of the big event, the couple and their guests woke up to rain falling outside, and panic ensued. Not to fear, the gods of weather listened to us all and the water was gone just before the beautiful outdoor ceremony was bound to start, much to everyone’s relief.

In the garden, the aisle was surrounded by white chairs arranged in a semi-circled for the guests. The bride and groom would face each other at the end of it, framed by a simple but beautiful arch of flowers. They wrote and delivered their own vows, which evoked laughs and happy tears from those in attendance.
White flowers and greenery were laid out near each row of chairs to create a stunning three dimensional effect, which would also guide the bride to her groom.

After the ceremony, it was time for the guests and the couple to be led inside. A fabulously decorated place - totally different from the rustic structure they had previously seen - where three long tables were set up to welcome the couple’s loved ones.
Arranged near the walls, and near the large windows, we brought in Japanese style trees to sculpt the space, and make it more modern and more “them”.
In order to make the night as vibrant and energetic as possible, we left space between each course for toasts and speeches. We wanted spirits to remain high, and the focus on celebrating the happy couple.

As the night drew on, the guests moved to the space dedicated to dancing and enjoyed a fun-filled evening led by Peter from Sax on the Beat, who did a wonderful job.
To this day, both myself, the vendors and the staff remember this as one of the greatest party weddings we have ever attended and had the pleasure to organise. The group was fun, upbeat, and the room was brimming with love!

Styling & Decor

As we were keeping a modern flair, we looked for a linen with straight edges and lines, which would sweep the floor without giving off an overly “romantic” impression, which was not our intent. We wanted it to feel luxurious, but still understated.
The stationary complemented the lovely green colours of the linen, and it was designed by the bride herself, who is a graphic designer.

As for decor, the trees really did all the work, with their sinuous branches and their natural movements. They framed the place beautifully, and the windows as well - left alone, they would have perhaps overtaken the place completely and changed the feeling of the room.
