Kelsey & Andreas

A Swedish dream in style
The wedding weekend that was all about LOVE, fun, good energy, good flow, upbeat vibe!
Kelsey and Andreas are from different countries. Kelsey is from the States and Andreas is from Sweden. They grew up speaking different languages and come from two very different cultures and upbringings. All that aside, they differ from other couples because of their dynamic and lifestyle. They both have strong ambitions and love to experience new places and things together.
They are a true team and both work together to create balance in their life. Kelsey is the dreamer and Andreas grounds them both.
From beginning to end, it was a joyful whirlwind to plan with Kelsey and Andreas.
Kelsey had a clear vision of what she wanted and Andreas was onboard, as long as the aesthetics would be minimalist and inspired by the Scandi style we are so famous for in the north.
Location & Venue
The wedding took place in Fjällbacka on the Swedish West Coast. The couple has their summer house on the nearby, picturesque island Hamburgön.
Even if they live in sunny California, it was obvious they wanted to get married in Sweden.
Hosting the wedding was their favourite seafood restaurant Matildas at Bryggan. It was not a traditional wedding venue and a bit of a challenge to manage the expectations from all sides.
Planning from abroad and asking the majority of guests to travel across an ocean, is no small task. We wanted the wedding to be spectacular!
Wedding Day
The wedding day began with Kelsey and Andreas getting ready at separate locations. Kelsey was well taken care of by the incredible makeup artist and hair stylist Sanni Sorma.
She got dressed, with the help of her mother and sister, in a custom made Monique Lhuillier dress that was beyond gorgeous on her!
After a romantic first look by the dramatic coastline of Hamburgön, it was time for the ceremony in Fjällbacka church.
The priest had gotten to know the couple over the course of the planning and she was something out of the ordinary. A church ceremony like nothing else with music played on the organ accompanied by a violinist.
Guests greeted the happy couple outside the church before a short walk to the venue began.
With glasses of Cava and canapes in hand, and musical duo Funkarkivet performing on the outer deck, the guests were amazed to see the couple arrive to the venue by boat.
Talk about making an entrance!
After the mingle, guests were invited to sit down at the beautifully decorated tables in the restaurant and savour a personally composed four course menu, finished off with a cake baked by Swedish baker of the year Josefin Pagander and hotshots.
The party continued with dancing to the DJ’s tunes on the upper floor. The signature cocktails where served in the bar until the early hours when guests slowly began to leave and walk back to the hotel across the street.
Styling & Decor
We had planned and worked on a layout that would suit the space, for months and the hard work paid off! The restaurant looked amazing! The main areas were transformed thanks to the magic of draping artist Mia Sylvia. Her fabrics were used to create an entrance, cover up any less visually appealing areas and to soften the whole atmosphere. The tables were draped to the floor in creme-coloured soft cotton and the napkins gracefully tossed on each place setting.
Bud vases with locally grown flowers where placed across the tables, arranged by the team at Soil and Fleurs. The plates, cutlery and glasses came from the restaurant and we dressed them up by placing custom-made menus by Christie Manhattan Beach, on top.
The characteristic church door was decorated with a huge floral arch inspired by traditional English weddings. Flower meadows were lining the pathway to the altar and gave the church a beautiful touch of nature!
Photographer Emily Rose Hamilton and videographer Emma Franzén were there to capture it all.
